World Sailing is targeting a return to the Paralympic Games after publishing its first Para Inclusive Strategy which will guide the growth of the sport through to 2029. 

The Para Inclusive Strategy focuses on growing Para Sailing in collaboration with Member National Authorities (MNAs), major events, and within the structure of the world governing body of sailing to deliver a more inclusive sport and increase the number of countries participating in Para Sailing. 

The International Blind Sports Federation (IBSA) is super-charging its efforts to attract partners and investment in Para judo, goalball and blind football alongside other sports for people with vision impairments.

Two-time Paralympian Michael Dennis, who represented Germany in goalball at the Rio 2016 and Tokyo 2020 Paralympics, has been appointed as IBSA‘s Director of Marketing and Sponsorship.

Dennis is now leading efforts to build a group of experts who will develop concepts for the sports IBSA is the International Federation for, and actively seek partners.

Grand Slam Tennis, representing the four Grand Slam tournaments, has today announced the establishment of a Wheelchair Tennis pilot as part of the Grand Slam Player Development Programme (GSPDP).  

The pilot will see 10 promising Wheelchair Tennis players from around the world and across the sport’s classes awarded grants to contribute to competition-related costs during the remainder of the 2024 season. 

The 2024 International Women’s Wheelchair Basketball Training Camp, an event celebrating the 34th National Disability Day in China, concluded on Sunday 26 May 2024 at the prestigious National Stadium in Beijing. This camp marked a significant step in promoting wheelchair basketball in China in the lead-up to the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games.

The IWBF and People’s Sport Foundation (PSF) are thrilled to announce the continuation of their partnership for another year, solidifying their commitment to promoting sports for people with disabilities, specifically wheelchair basketball, worldwide.

Bahrain has been selected as the next host of the BWF Para Badminton World Championships in 2026.

The successful bid was received from the Bahrain National Paralympic Committee (NPC) with the support of the Bahrain Badminton and Squash Federation.

The Bahrain NPC has hosted several Para sport events within the region including the Asian Youth Para Games 2021, and most recently the IPC General Assembly in 2023.

The International Canoe Federation held its first training camp for Paracanoe Marathon padders as the two disciplines continue to work together for the development of the sport. 

A total of 12 French and Spanish athletes participated in the camp that ran from April 16 to 21 in Saint-Nicolas-de-la-Grave, France. 

The participants included K1, KL3, VL2 and VL3 paddlers and one deaf athlete. 

World Triathlon is pleased to announce that the Championship Finals Torremolinos-Andalucía will host the first-ever World Triathlon Para Mixed Relay Championships on 20 October, after two years of the event being delivered at the World Triathlon Championship Finals as a test.

The Executive Board has also approved the award of a separate set of recognition medals to athletes with Intellectual Impairment competing in the Age-Group events at the 2024 World Triathlon Multisport Championships in Townsville, Australia, taking place on 15-25 August.

Teams from 21 countries are set to contest the 2024 BNP Paribas World Team Cup World Group when the ITF’s flagship wheelchair tennis team event returns to Antalya, Turkiye, for the fourth time from 7 to 12 May.

Titles will once again be decided in men’s, women’s, quad and junior events, with the junior event once again supported by ITF Wheelchair Tennis Programme Partner the Cruyff Foundation.

Talibah Davis became the first Para shuttler from the picturesque island of Barbados to compete at a BWF World Championships in Pattaya, Thailand last month.

It was a feat that seemed improbable not too long ago, but there she was, standing shoulder to shoulder with the best on the planet.

Davis’ journey hadn’t been easy.

The IBU Para Biathlon Development Forum 2024 will take place from 7 to 9 June at Lenzerheide, Switzerland, the host site for the IBU Biathlon World Championships 2024 and a growing centre for biathlon development activities.

Following the transfer of governance for Para Biathlon from the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) to the IBU in July 2022, the IBU became a full member of the IPC in September 2023.
