International women’s Wheelchair Basketball training camp held in Beijing

The 2024 International Women’s Wheelchair Basketball Training Camp, an event celebrating the 34th National Disability Day in China, concluded on Sunday 26 May 2024 at the prestigious National Stadium in Beijing. This camp marked a significant step in promoting wheelchair basketball in China in the lead-up to the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games.

The camp welcomed high-level teams from the Netherlands, the United States, and Great Britain to Beijing for a series of pre-Paralympic warm-up matches. Alongside these international teams, four provincial teams from China also participated, totaling 142 players.

In a thrilling series of matches, the United States emerged victorious, with China securing the runner-up position. The final rankings saw the Netherlands in third place, showcasing the high level of competition and skill present at the camp.

Before the camp commenced, participants toured the historic National Stadium, the renowned venue for wheelchair basketball events during the 2008 Beijing Paralympic Games and the ice hockey events at the 2022 Beijing Winter Paralympic Games. This visit offered a poignant reminder of the progress and achievements in Paralympic sports.
