IBSA launches educational programs to strengthen Blind Sports worldwide
The International Blind Sports Federation (IBSA) has announced the launch of a new initiative aimed at enhancing the expertise of coaches, referees, sports administrators, and local organizing committees in blind sports. Approved by the IBSA Executive Board, this initiative seeks to improve the overall quality of competitions and athlete preparation on a global scale.
The program will provide training in key areas, including anti-doping, classification, and event organization, to ensure that blind sports continue to grow with high professional standards. A combination of in-person training, online learning platforms, and certification programs will be developed to make education accessible to all regions.
IBSA will allocate part of its resources, alongside potential grants from the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) and support from external partners, to fund these programs. The initiative will be implemented in collaboration with IBSA’s sport committees and Administration, ensuring a sport-specific approach tailored to the needs of each discipline.
IBSA President Ilgar Rahimov emphasized the importance of this initiative: “By investing in education, we are investing in the future of blind sports. This program will not only improve competition standards but also help create sustainable structures for long-term development worldwide.”
The implementation of the program will begin soon, with pilot projects planned in key regions. IBSA invites all stakeholders, partners, and interested organizations to support this initiative and contribute to the professionalization of blind sports.
