Lohja, Finland signs multi-year deal for World Wheelchair-B events

The World Junior-B Curling Championships and World Wheelchair-B Curling Championship will return to the Kisakallio Sports Institute in Lohja, Finland for the 2023 and 2024 editions of each championship.

The Kisakallio Sports Institute has hosted the wheelchair curling event six times previously — in 2015, 2016, 2018, 2019, 2021 and 2022. It held the Junior-B event five times in the past — in 2016, 2018, 2019, January 2022 and December 2022.

World Curling Federation Head of Competitions Eeva Roethlisberger said, “Lohja have been a fantastic host of our championships and I’m delighted that we will continue our partnership with the Kisakallio Sports Institute for at least two more seasons.

“The institute has been the home for our Wheelchair-B and Junior-B events for several years and the organising committee have become highly experienced in running these championships. I have no doubt that they will continue to maintain the high standard they have set for our athletes and staff at these events as we go forward.”

Kisakallio Sports Institute Sales Director, Lauri Ikavalko, said, “Kisakallio is very excited to partner with the World Curling Federation to host these great events. We have hosted these championships many times, so for us, this agreement feels like we are continuing to give them a home. Our management team is looking forward to bringing these championships and all of the athletes involved back to the Kisakallio over the next two seasons.”
