Cairo to close 2021 with Sitting Volleyball World Cup
Egypt’s capital city, Cairo, will conclude an action-packed 2021 after being confirmed as hosts of the Sitting Volleyball World Cup from December 10 to 15 at the Cairo International Stadium.
The biggest sitting volleyball event in the World ParaVolley calendar will feature 16 teams each for the men’s and women’s competitions all competing for the title. A lot is at stake at the World Cup as winning teams will be guaranteed a spot at the 2022 Sitting Volleyball World Championships in Hangzhou, China in May.
Anji last hosted the Intercontinental in March 2016 with a record participation of 28 teams – 13 for women and 15 for men. The 2016 event saw eventual Paralympic champions the United States and Iran claim the title in the women’s and men’s competitions, respectively. Their victory also secured them spots to the 2018 World Championships in the Netherlands.
The World Cup will close the 2021 season, after the Men’s Final Paralympic Games Qualification Tournament in Germany and the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games.
