World ParaVolley e-Learning platform to launch on June 15

World ParaVolley has been working hard over the past number of months to put together the initial phase of E-ParaVolley, an online LMS which will offer possibilities for individuals to learn more about World ParaVolley and to embark on technical education pathways.

The program has been made possible in large part as a result of two grants from the International Paralympic Committee – one from the NPCDP-IF funding stream, and the other from the GSI COVID-19 Relief Fund stream.

In this first instance, the platform is offering Level 1 and Level 2 (theory) Classification, and Level 2 Coaching courses.  Although these are considered pilot programs, designed to test the system, they are certainly part of the official certification pathway.

Participants for the initial courses have been selected as a result of a successful expression of interest request that was sent to the World ParaVolley membership.  Response to the request was excellent, with WPV having received over 90 interested applicants with a variety of backgrounds, and from all WPV Zones.

“We were extremely pleased with the range of applicants that responded to the expression of interest,” said WPV General Manager Phil Allen.  “Unfortunately, not all those that replied will be able to participate in this initial wave of courses as there is limited capacity, but now we have a very good list of names to draw from for upcoming courses, which bodes well for the future.”

E-ParaVolley will have a substantial impact on the number of people the Federation is able to directly reach and have an impact on.  The system is not simply a one-time webinar offering, but rather is built upon the ideas of active blended learning and sustained education.

In the future, the LMS platform will house general educational materials that will be accessible to anyone, as well as referee and technical official pathway courses.
