New dates for powerchair hockey Euros

International Wheelchair and Amputee Sports Federation (IWAS) Powerchair Hockey have announced the new dates for the 2020 European Championships which were postponed earlier in the year.

The competition will now take place from 31 May – 7 June 2021 in Pajulahti, Finland, the original host city.

IWAS Powerchair Hockey and the Local Organising Committee (LOC) have determined that a one year delay would ensure the safety and unrestricted participation of all athletes.

The Sport Congress will also still take place in the days following the Championships.

“IWAS Powerchair Hockey would like to thank the LOC for the hard work and good cooperation in finding a good and safe solution, as well as for managing all the different issues that come with postponing such a major event,” a statement on the IWAS Powerchair Hockey website read.

The competition will go ahead under the name of IWAS Powerchair Hockey European Championships 2020 despite the change of year.
