Nancy named host of 2024 World ParaVolley Women’s Super 6

The World ParaVolley Super 6 will be back in 2024 with the women’s event relaunching the international federation’s premier six nations sitting volleyball tournament in Nancy, France from June 11-16.

The Women’s Super 6 will take place in Parc des Sports Vandoeuvre Nations in Nancy, about 350 kilometres away from French capital Paris, the host of the Paralympic Games.

The event will be hosted by the Vandoeuvre Nancy Volleyball Club, an organisation that has a rich 60-year history. The club is located in east of France and has over 350 registered players from all levels and genders. Its professional team plays in the French Ligue since 2015 and has been running its own development centre since 2018.

“This year’s Women’s Super 6 event is a great opportunity for World ParaVolley to work with the Nancy organising committee to build a strong partnership for the future and prepare the wonderful technical officials and volunteers who will deliver the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games,” WPV Sport Director Stephen Giugni OAM said.

The Sports University of Nancy (UFR Staps) and the Physiotherapy University will provide volunteers throughout the competition.

“The WPV Women’s Super 6 in Nancy is a great opportunity for teams, volunteers and the fans to participate in and witness the final training stages in anticipation of the Paris 2024 Paralympics,” WPV President Lori Okimura said.

“With top teams invited from around the world, this event is a great example of the global popularity of sitting volleyball. Our Sport Department is working to establish a long-term global calendar heading to the LA28 Paralympics, and the World Super 6 is an important event in that process.”

Adding to the excitement of the , fans should eagerly anticipate the confirmation of the teams, set to be announced on March 25th.

The Women’s Super 6 was last held in 2019 in Tokyo, Japan, where the United States completed a perfect run of seven wins to clinch the title.
